This website presents some academic career mentoring materials created for National Science Foundation grant number 1310757 (PI: John F. Dovidio), “Improving Retention and Facilitating Career Reentry for Women Scientists.” Postdoctoral researchers of all genders have reported finding these materials helpful, and we expect them to be useful resources for graduate students, advanced undergrads, and early career faculty as well.
The videos hosted on this site feature expert mentors from Yale University giving advice to early career scholars. These videos were part of a study conducted in 2015-2016. Long-term results are pending, but participants indicated that they found the videos rewarding and felt that the advice included was useful.
This website is not designed to take the place of individualized instruction, but rather to provide a supplement for scholars who are interested in some extra advice.
Check out the resources page for a list, with brief descriptions, of other valuable mentoring and professional development resources that may be of interest to postdocs and other early career scholars.
